Japan EMF Information Center (JEIC) is a neutral, permanent organization established in 2008 as one of the institutes of Japan Electrical safety & environment Technology laboratories (JET). JEIC was created in response to a policy recommendation from the Working Group, which addressed countermeasures related to electromagnetic fields from electric power facilities. This Working Group served as an advisory body to the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI).

The objective is to promote risk communication to address issues arising from the lack of accurate information dissemination on health effects related to exposure to electromagnetic fields (EMF, also referred to as electromagnetic waves).

Such an organization is globally unique. We are actively striving to become a leading international center for risk communication with expert knowledge on EMF.

Philosophy and Objective of JEIC

From a neutral standpoint, our goal is to provide easily understandable scientific information on EMF and reduce gaps in risk perception among stakeholders regarding its health effects through the practice of risk communication.

JEIC's Governance Policy

Expertise

To ensure expertise in surveying and analyzing research papers on EMF, as well as monitoring the global status of EMF regulations and conflict cases of EMF worldwide.

Neutrality and transparency

To ensure neutrality and transparency of JEIC's governance, we have established a system in which an independent 'Audit Committee' comprised of individuals with broad expertise, consumer representatives, and media professionals inspects and approves it.

We also publish the minutes of their meetings and distributed materials on our website.

Understandability

To foster mutual understanding among stakeholders by presenting JEIC's research, analysis, and assessment results in an easily understandable expression.

Inquiries

JEIC provides accurate information against fears and doubts on electromagnetic fields (EMF) and hopes that many people will understand deeper on EMF.

We are accepting inquiries and requests on EMF and our activities.
